About

Mac EnvyI love Lifehacker.com, Lifehack.org, 43Folders, To-Done.com, and all the rest of those productivity sites out there, but time and again I feel slighted. I don’t want to start a war over which is better–Mac or Windows–because the simple fact is (as much as I’d like to have a Mac to play around with) I ain’t switching. I grew up with Windows (from the days when DOSShell, and DesqView were considered bleeding edge), I understand it, I know how to get around, and I have all the tools I need to do whatever job I want to do; from quick and dirty programming, to fancy graphic design. Are there things I hate about Windows? Yes! But, while you can teach old dogs new tricks, they still expect to get a bone if they perform the old standby tricks.

The reason I mentioned those productivity sites is that, while the content is great, they are mostly Mac heavy as far as software recomendations go. That ain’t right. So, I decided to start this blog for the purposes of keeping up with the Macolytes. Don’t think I am one of those Mac haters. Nope! I only wish I had grown up with Mac, but if had, this site would probably be called DOS Envy, or Win Envy.

In addition, I have built two Squidoo lenses (emaculation, and macenvy) that offer a buttload of helpful links to those of us who love tinkering with the old standby.
MacEnvy is geared toward those who either can’t, or won’t switch to Mac, but still lust over the look and feel of the interface, or some of the sweet software available for the Mac.
